The very first showroom is opened in Kuwait City and ATLAS pioneers transparency in the gold business by advertising the ATLAS daily gold rates through mass media and fixing the gold rate separately for 22 and 24 karat gold jewellery. This marks a new era in the regional gold retail trade. This period also sees movie production and the beginning of television and print advertisements for which ATLAS is well known.

ATLAS begins its famous style of innovative and unique marketing campaigns. This decade marks the launching of the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, United Arab Emirates Vice-President & Ruler of Dubai. M.M. Ramachandran is elected to serve as the Chairman of the DSF Gold Promotion Committee and is instrumental in crafting the concept of a gold based shopping incentive. In the inaugural year 43 kilos of gold are given away as prizes.

ATLAS meets the new century by expanding dramatically into new markets and officially becomes the first jewellery chain to have branches in all Gulf Cooperation Council countries. ATLAS also diversifies into several new industries such as healthcare, real estate, advertising nd photography studios.
